Online Safety
At Bingley Grammar School we take all aspects of Online Safety or 'E-Safety' very seriously.
The Internet is fast becoming an essential part of everyday life. The majority of students are competent users of a variety of online tools including gaming and social networking sites such as Facebook, and devices including smart phones and iPads.
Within school we filter and monitor all internet access and email through the schools network, provide guidance and advice to student's, through PHSE and ICT, of the potential risks and dangers of all aspects of electronic communication - Facebook and other similar social networking sites, MSM and other messaging applications, and of course mobile phones and texting. We also provide a source of support in the event that things don't go "quite as expected". This support includes school counselling support and, when necessary, police involvement.
The Internet has become an important part our student's lives, enabling them to research school projects, talk to their friends and access information from around the world. Increasing provision of the Internet in and out of schools brings with it the need to ensure that learners remain safe. Internet development is constantly evolving into ever more innovative areas with many websites enabling amazing creativity and interaction between peers. Unfortunately though, there are times when Internet use can have a negative effect on our students
