Assessment & Reporting
Welcome to our guide to assessment and reporting at Bingley Grammar School. We believe that a strong partnership between home and school is essential for your child’s success, and clear, regular communication about their progress is a cornerstone of that partnership.
Our approach to assessment is designed to be fair, consistent, and supportive. Its purpose is to:
- Celebrate achievement and recognise your child's hard work.
- Measure progress against the "Most Important Knowledge" (MIK) of our curriculum.
- Identify and address gaps in learning with timely, targeted support.
- Empower students to understand their own strengths and areas for growth.
On this page, you can explore how we assess and report on progress at each stage of your child's journey with us and download our detailed guides for each key stage.
Key Elements on Every Report
Alongside academic grades, our reports provide crucial feedback on other factors that are vital for success.
Attitude to Learning (ATL)
We believe a positive attitude is as important as academic ability. ATL is graded based on our three core school principles: Respect, Commitment, and Collaboration. This score tells you how engaged your child is in their own learning.
Attendance
Excellent attendance is fundamental to achieving great results. We expect a minimum attendance of 97% for all students, as even a few days of missed learning can have a significant impact on progress.
