Charlie's Speedway Success Update
Last we shared the progress of Charlie's achievement in Speedway racing at a National level.
Charlie finished the year on a high winning the Support Class Amateur Championship at Scunthorpe in August despite have a bad crash and breaking his wrist. Charlie recovered well and was back riding as soon as his got the all clear from the hospital in October.
Charlie also raced in the nation Junior league representing Berwick Academy finishing the season winning all his races in the last meeting which attracted attention from the British Youth Manager who called him personally to congratulate him.
Charlie's 2024 season started off at a 3-day British Youth Training Camp in Workington a few weeks ago. The training camp was headed up by Multi-British Champion and Eurosport commentator Scott Nicholls who still rides in the British leagues. The 3 days included track time, fitness sessions and classroom-based learning about bike maintenance, governing body regulations and race preparation.
Charlie has a busy year ahead for him starting with a demonstration race at the Kyle Howarth Testimonial Meeting at Sheffield on Thursday 14th March. This is quite a prestigious event in the Speedway calendar, attended by some world class professional riders in the main meeting.
Charlie will be competing in the British Youth Championship (May – September) with meetings at Workington, Plymouth, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Belle Vue, Leicester and Scunthorpe.
Charlie has also been invited to be Mascot for Belle Vue in Manchester, home of the National Speedway Stadium and to attend training academy sessions at Glasgow.
