Yr 11 Football Match Reports October 2023
Before half term, the Year 11's had an action-packed week on the football field, facing off in two thrilling contests.
First up was their epic clash against Cardinal Heenan in the county cup. Cardinal Heenan struck first in the opening half of an evenly contested game. However, the Year 11's weren't to be outdone, with Adam B delivering a perfect header into the top corner to level the score. Both sides exhibited rock-solid defenses, making goal-scoring opportunities a rare sight. When regulation time concluded with a 1-1 draw, it was time for the dramatic penalty shootout. After five penalties each, the teams were still inseparable, and it took sudden-death kicks to determine a winner, with Cardinal Heenan emerging victorious in a thrilling 7-6 finish.
The second showdown of the week was against their neighborhood rivals in the Bradford Schools League, Beckfoot. This contest was nothing short of a spectacle! Bingley Grammar unleashed a flurry of goals in the first half, causing all sorts of trouble, netting three times, and even missing a penalty and two golden opportunities. The first half concluded with a 3-1 score line.
