Yr 13 Leeds Combined Courts Trip
On Tuesday 10th and Thursday 12th January, Year 13 Criminology students visited Leeds Combined Court centre.
Miss Shaw reports,
Both mornings began with an informative talk from a court usher where students sat within a courtroom and were given an introduction to court proceedings and a list of cases for the day. They then independently entered different courtrooms and sat in the public gallery of several cases ranging from murder trials to robbery and even a slightly unusual criminal damage case involving the poisoning of a tree!
Students observed trials, sentencing, pleas and pre-trial preparations and gained a great insight into the different roles within a Crown court. A very well done to all criminology students who attended; they demonstrated excellent conduct throughout and made the days very enjoyable.
