Wednesday 6 December 2023 Commiseration for the year 8 team The match truly lived up to the occasion – it was an absolute spectacle! Both teams brought their A-game, creating a real showdown with a high-level spirit on the field. We kicked off as the stronger of the two teams, dominating early proceedings, pressuring Brooksbank, and creating promising opportunities. It was clear from the first minute that the boys were up for it. Midway through the first half, our captain, Zach H, showcased his prowess by breaking through the defense and winning a penalty, which he coolly converted to secure the lead. Moments later, Zach struck a free kick that rattled the post, but despite our first-half dominance, we couldn't extend our advantage. The dynamics shifted in the second half as Brooksbank found their rhythm, gradually imposing themselves. We fought hard to prevent them from scoring, but they managed to equalise with two minutes left – a defensive lapse in concentration allowed Brooksbank's striker to go around the goalkeeper and net the

Tuesday 26 September 2023 Year 8 Football Team 23/24 On Friday the Year 8 team started their football campaign this year with an impressive 6-0 victory against Minsthorpe in the County Cup. Despite the long journey to Wakefield, you could see the students were up for the game from the start. They maintained control of the match from the very first minute to the end, presenting a tough challenge for their opponents.Zach H took charge upfront and consistently posed difficulties for Minsthorpe's back four, who struggled to keep up with him. He received solid support from the midfield, working hard to retain possession and offer assistance whenever needed.Sam K and Callum E delivered outstanding defensive performances, cutting off any opposing attacks and leaving Jacob, the goalkeeper, with minimal work.It would be unjust to single out one student as the player of the match because each and every one of them delivered a fantastic performance. If you happen to come across any of the students, please congratulate them.Goals scored by:Zach H - 2

Monday 14 August 2023 How to train a dragon! An amazing day with fantastic students , no one believed they could do this when the day began but look at those results! The students learnt to carve cakes to create a cake pop mixture so there was zero waste which was then used to bolster the shape so even though everyone started with the same shapes no two dragons looked the same. They learnt to work with buttercream and ganache, to model, cover the cake, emboss an imprint to create scales, paint with powder colours and not forgetting the finalAirbrushing: a day that will not be forgotten quickly and one that they can take the skills home to create another cake. With grateful thanks to the generosity of our sponsors, as it would not have been possible without them.Dawn Butler At Dinky Doodle for the airbrushes.

Tuesday 25 April 2023 Student Ministerial Team meeting Today, our newly appointed Student Ministerial Team met for the first time to discuss issues raised by our recent 'student voice' event, led by Form and Year representatives. Each of our six teams will now look to devise and implement appropriate strategies, to act upon the issues and suggestions raised by their peers. The meeting was highly positive and productive and I have been bowled over by the professionalism and maturity demonstrated by all our student leaders. Our next step will be to allocate relevant teams of student leaders to complete key tasks. Our Student Ministers will lead on this, commencing with a Student Council planning morning on Wednesday 3rd May, which will involve close to one hundred student leaders from across all year groups. Well done and thank you to all involved!

Monday 24 April 2023 Year 8 Football News Really excited for these boys. Playing South Craven last Tuesday after school in the Bradford Schools cup semi final at home they came away with a fantastic 3-0 victory. First half goals from Ben Lister, Joe Craven and Joel Hutchinson gave us a 3-0 lead at half time playing with the wind. The second half was always going to be a tough test playing against the wind, but the boys scrapped for every ball and gave everything they had against a very strong team from South Craven who had beaten us 3-2 earlier in the season. We managed to keep a clean sheet and in the end ran out very comfortable 3-0 winners at full time. The boys will be really excited to play the final later in the term. Please congratulate them if you see them around school tomorrow.

Tuesday 21 March 2023 Victory for the Year 10 Football Team Team sheet - Isaaq A (goalkeeper), Nick M, Adam B, Adam W, Dylan F, Lewis O, Eddie H, Oscar D, Theo L, Josh D, Harvey B, Jamie G and Harry K. The year 10 team comfortably beat Co-op Grange 5-0 in the quarter finals, after finishing second in the group. Right from the start the boys controlled the game, and showed they were a level above their opponents. It didn't take long to score the first goal which came after some quality one touch passing in midfield and then a fantastic long range strike from Harvey B. The second goal followed shortly after, this time the goal came from Theo L after a superb cross from Nick M. The first half ended 2-0, the half time team talk was an easy one encouraging more of the same and to try and score the next goal to finish off the game. Moments after the start of the second half, Bingley Grammar were awarded a corner which was taken by Eddie H who put in an inch perfect cross to Harvey B who scored a fantastic first time volley from outside the box. Monday 13 March 2023 Yr 7 Boys Cup Quarter Finals Report by Mr Wilson. Our Year 7 Boys played their Cup Quarter Final match against Immanuel College on Tuesday 7 th March. Although we dominated much of the game against Immanuel, we could not find a way past the Immanuel keeper who made a string of outstanding saves. With the game ending 0-0, the match was decided on penalties. It was a very tight penalty shootout, with the Immanuel keeper again making a number of outstanding saves, which allowed them to win the game and progress through to the cup semi-finals. It has been a great first season for our Year 7 football team, who I feel certain will go from strength to strength in future years. Congratulations to all our boys for playing some outstanding football this season and for continually showing positive attitudes throughout the year. They have been a pleasure to coach and manage. Well done!

Friday 9 September 2022 Mr Atkinson's Friday Update 09.09.22 Dear Parents/Carers, For those new to Bingley Grammar School my name is Mr Atkinson (Deputy Headteacher) and I will make contact with you every two weeks to keep you updated regarding school matters. In between these times, you will receive further communications from key staff such as Mrs Spicer (Assistant Headteacher) regarding curriculum and assessments or the year teams to celebrate key successes. I would like to start by recognising the death of Queen Elizabeth II and the school shares the nation's sadness at this news. We are awaiting further guidance from the DfE regarding actions for schools and will communicate any changes to you once we have been informed about them. Over the coming days we will be focusing on the life of Queen Elizabeth II. We decided that today we would answer key questions but not do something collectively until we know how and what the family of the Queen will be doing to celebrate her life.

Friday 25 March 2022 Mr Atkinson's Friday Update 25.03.22 Good afternoon,Firstly thank you for everyone's generosity last week, £1802.00 was raised for Comic Relief and the Disaster Emergency Committee. This reflects our excellent school community who have as usual gone above and beyond for others. This is also reflected through our other fundraisers this year: - Children in Need - £1493.73- Leeds General Hospital - £478.05- Candlelighters - £603.05Therefore I cannot wait to see how Year 7 fare in their sponsored walk in July to support the BRI, an organisation we have supported for many years here at BGS with the current total standing at £17,972.66 for the three sponsored walks our students have undertaken so far. Secondly I wish to mention James in Year 7, who met with myself and Mrs Spencer (Business Manager) to discuss Bingley Grammar School moving towards becoming a Plastic Free School. James's passionate and informed presentation led us to sign up to www.plasticfreeschools.org.uk and we are looking forward
